50/50 Club
A big focus of PlayMaker Training is for each player to be able to do anything with the ball. As long as a player can do anything with the ball, they should be able to do anything on the field. Now, within that context, a primary staple of PMT is the ability juggle. The ability to juggle in no way means that your player will be an elite player. HOWEVER, you can't google any elite player without seeing their ability to juggle. Just type in Cristiano Ronaldo Juggling, Lionel Messi Juggling, Diego Maradona Juggling, or Neymar Juggling. They can all juggle, and basically do anything with the ball. So again, JUGGLING DOES NOT MAKE YOU AN ELITE PLAYER, BUT EVERY WORLD CLASS PLAYER CAN JUGGLE.
Former soccer legend Michel Platini used to hold a camp in Europe where the prerequisite to get in was that each player must be able to juggle: 50 times with their right foot only, 50 times with their left foot only, and 50 times with their head only. The prerequisite even stood for 8 year olds trying to attend the camp. The reason why Platini had this prerequisite was because he only wanted the most dedicated players at his camp. Juggling provides instant feedback on hours spent with the ball, which takes a dedication unlike any other.
This is why I started my own 50/50 Club. I want players to be more dedicated at home in working with the ball: 50 unbroken juggles with the right foot only, and 50 unbroken juggles with the left foot only, will earn you a spot, in the 50/50 Club!
