Some of the highlights from 'The Art of Being Recruited'
“I have so much advice to give honestly. One of the biggest pieces of advice would be to look past the first impression the coaches give to you. They want to be liked… remember that. Talk to the current players on your visit, if they don’t give you opportunities to do so thats probably a bad sign. Make sure the school has an organized sports performance program. Also, make sure your school prioritizes soccer development and not just running you into the ground. The summer should be for conditioning, and you want to be at a place that actually plays soccer in the spring especially because thats when most of your development happens. When you go into your recruiting process go in with at least 3 bullet points of a type of program you want to go to and find a place that fits that the best.”

“For me, the highlight tape is the most important. I watch every video that gets sent to me. I may not watch 5 minutes if the first 30 seconds shows the level isn’t high enough, but I’ll open them all. Make sure you list complete club, team,, position, and jersey number information as well as updated contact info. Beyond that, I don’t really need much else. I actually don’t like the really long, formulaic emails you see templates for online. I don’t need to know a fun fact about you or any catchy type stuff. Generally, I would tell you to reach out to your college list every time you update your highlight video or have a new event schedule.”
