SUMMER CAMP FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Frequently Asked Questions:
- What will my child be doing at camp? Our camps will be focused on all the Technical Training aspects that we cover in our PlayMaker Training sessions. First touch, change of pace, changes of direction, and other dribbling skills. We will be testing the players "skill gap" between their good foot and their "Ugly Foot" because we believe the quickest/easiest way to gain confidence is by gaining confidence in your ugly foot. We will be covering the ability to be strong on the ball and the difference between dribbling for possession and dribbling to beat an opponent. We will be doing a lot of pattern circuit passing drills that will be timed and competing against other groups in the camp that will work on speed of execution. Small group games, numbers up games, numbers down games, even number games, will all be a part of the weekly curriculum.
- Will my player be in an age/skill specific group? Yes and no. There will be large portions of the camp where the entire group will be doing the same activities although different objectives/focusses will be placed on players dependent on skill level. There will also be portions of the camp where players based on SKILL LEVEL will be separated.
- Are walk-up registrations welcome? Yes, please email [email protected] to give us a heads up!
- Do we need to register if we are planning on dropping in? Yes, please fill out the registration form and in the comments section, list the days you plan to drop-in.
- We registered for camp, how do we pay? Payments are due at time of registration! We are currently accepting most payments through Venmo to PlayMakerTraining13 (7145). We will also be accepting checks made payable to PlayMaker Training and mailed to 6204 Goodrich Rd. Clarence Center NY 14032. We will accept cash as long as it is in a sealed envelope with your players name on it!
- What is the check in process? On your first day of camp (Monday for most campers), please line up at the tables for check in. If you have paperwork or payment to turn in or need to fill out camp forms, please line up at the table to complete your registration. If you are simply checking in, please let the trainers know who you are checking in and grab their camp t-shirt/s. Campers are not required to wear their t-shirt (they'll need to be washed to get the new ink smell off). Please note that t-shirts are only for full week participants.
- Do we need to check in every day? No, adults only need to check in their campers first day of camp. After that, you can drop kids off and leave and players will have an area where they go. Each day, their coach will have a sign in sheet where they will sign in their name with their coach.
- We registered and paid but now have a conflict. What is your camp refund policy? There will be no refunds at this time. If there is a conflict and you can't attend any/one of the days, we will provide a Technical Training Class as your makeup.
- What should campers bring to camp? Kids should be dressed appropriately to play soccer. Players should bring a ball, plenty of water, and sunscreen.
- Should campers bring snacks/lunch? We will be taking multiple breaks throughout the four hours with one extended break where players can eat snacks. We recommend bringing small snacks for your players. We will not be providing snack options.
- What happens if it storms? Each of our camp locations has some form of shelter that we can use in case of a storm. If it is simply raining we will continue as scheduled. If there is thunder and lightning we will take shelter and wait it out. In the event we need to cancel a day, we will send an email blast out to all parents about the cancellation and offer a make-up day at one of our other camps. We will not refund for the missed day if you opt not to attend another camp.
- Are we allowed to set up tents? Yes, you are welcome to set up a tent to provide shade for your players. You are responsible for tent set up and take down. Tents must come down every day.
- Can adults stay? Yes, you are welcome to stay and observe. We ask that you please leave coaching to our staff and observe silently. We have a highly qualified staff filled with experienced coaches, and collegiate players that are well versed in the PlayMaker Training methods.
- What forms do I need to sign? All forms can be found on our Summer Camps Page Please note that if you are attending the Clarence camp, you'll have to fill out a waiver for the town of Clarence as well.
